About Ariane Wieber

Trainer profile

As a trainer I like to see the team as a whole unit, so I try to both educate the dogs as best as possible, but also support them in their decisions as handler. My main focus for the dogs is the understanding of verbals and criteria for each obstacle and for the handler to set lines and help with speed management for the dog. It's not about being the fastest handler, it's about being the most efficient handler.

Q&A with Ariane Wieber

What do you focus on most when teaching?

I want to make sure that the dogs actually understand their task and not only succeed because of repetition. Also I want the handler to understand what different effects they will achieve from different handling options to learn how to make good handling choices.

What mistakes do handlers make most often?

Setting clear boundaries for what is right and what is not for the dog. In general the way how to handle or correct mistakes and how to celebrate good work. Be clear but fair in your communication.

What do you want people to feel after training with your content?

I want them to have the feeling of progress and I want them to feel as a team with their dogs. Also I like to push the handlers a little bit to their limits, so they can see better what they are actually able to do. This "feeling of mastering" is the best high-feeling and greatest motivation.
